Dreamshaper 8

After a clean restart, I installed only the first of the Starter Model Bundles, which is called Stable Diffusion 1.5. This left me with Dreamshaper 8, which is already a bit confusing to a noob like me. I have no clue how Stable Diffusion and Dreamshaper relate to each other, but I am sure Google will have the answer for me. At the moment, I don’t really care though.

Dreamshaper 8 defaults to a size of 512×512, which should hopefully make it not too slow on my old hardware. It defaults to 30 steps and a CFG Scale of 7. I am first going to try to determine how many steps will produce a satisfying result.

I turned off the random seed and start with just 5 steps, going all the way to a hundred in increments of 5.

A breathtaking, ethereal blonde sorceress with mesmerizing emerald-green eyes, standing in a grand, mystical landscape. Her long, flowing golden hair shimmers under the enchanted glow of floating magical orbs. She wears an elegant, intricately detailed fantasy robe FanRo, embroidered with shimmering golden patterns that reflect ambient magical energy. A soft breeze lifts the edges of her robe, adding motion and grace. Her gaze is wise and powerful, as if she holds ancient knowledge of forgotten realms. The background features a vast, otherworldly landscape with towering crystal formations, luminous waterfalls, and a celestial sky filled with swirling nebulae and floating lanterns. The atmosphere is mystical, evoking a sense of wonder and divine power. Natural light, 35mm photograph, film, professional, 4K, highly detailed, golden hour lighting. Depth of field F2. Rule of Thirds Composition.

Seems to me like the default of 30 is just fine. One can create a dozen images with that setting and then improve on the one that is most pleasing.

Next thing to experiment with is how much the CFG Scale influenced the outcome. It is supposed to tell the model how closely it should follow the instructions. Dreamshaper let me set the CFG scale from 1 to 20 and in the above examples it was set halfway. Going to test it in increments of 2.5 with the 50 steps image from the example above…

Next is testing exactly what the Scheduler does to the image, which is yet another of those many things I absolutely have no clue about. It is currently set to DPM++ 3M Karras and I haven’t got the slightest hint to what that all means. I have around 30 options to choose from, so here we go…

Again, I have absolutely no clue what this does exactly. Now you know why this blog is called AI Noob!

For a final test, I had the computer generate 12 images in a row, once WITH and once WITHOUT the Seed number being randomized. These are the 12 images without the random seed…

Once again, I have no real clue to what the exact difference is supposed to be…

And I know that all male visitors are wondering just one more thing right now… can Dreamshaper 8 create NSFW images, in other words, can we see the sorceress naked? Yes, Dreamshaper 8 has no filters regarding nudity.
